We have over a hundred insects, including moths and butterflies, mounted in cases on our mantel! The Luna Moth is exceptionally beautiful.

Aww you really had one as a... "pet"? ^^ Very interesting, I love them. I only saw some of them in a butterfly park here in Germany. I'm very jealous now.

Not really a pet, they don't live very long. He tries to breed them when he can. He caught a female Cecropia that laid eggs, raised them, kept a mated female after releasing the rest, then raised them before letting them all go. It was fascinating to watch the tiny caterpillars grow and change.

I quite believe it. Yes, I know that they don't live so long, what a pity. They're soooo beautiful.

The colors fade on the luna moth if exposed to light. That's why I took the pic

They are very beautiful. Too bad they fade over time (it sits in a display above my mantle, along with about 150 other insects )

He's been an avid "bug collector" since 6th grade. It sits with a Cecropia and a Polyphemous now. It's a very beautiful moth.
