Description I've been studying and testing on anisotropyic materials these days, for this tests I've modeled a metalic George Nelson style modern clock for experiments. Then I've confused and got bored with this anisotropy things and I've changed the study to an "interior lighting test". I was trying to create a contemporary designed interior scene with a proper studio lighting.

After modelling and texturing the objects in a few hours, I've start to think about rendering method. Then I decided to use an unbiased, brute force method called Progressive Path Tracing. But one thing I couldn't handle is the antialiasing. I'll correct the AA as soon as possible. By the way, the title, "12:18 o'clock" is about the rendering time. I've rendered the scene for 12 hours and 18 minutes and also the clock in the scene shows 12:18.

Objects modelled using 3dsmax, rendered with Vray, depth of field made with Z-buffer pass and edited on Photoshop.

Buyur o zaman.

Wow!

I still can figure out vray vs maxwell. if that is done with vray, I can't see maxwell's advantage.

I like it very much. Could you tell something more about the settings ? I'm wondering why ppt gave such poor antyaliasing :/ Anyway, really nice lighting setup.

accodeum In reply to zmoodel [2006-09-30 11:00:21 +0000 UTC]

I want to quote something from Vray manual.

"The image sampler type (Fixed, Adaptive QMC, Adaptive subdivision) is ignored in this mode, since the path tracing algorithm does pixel supersampling automatically. After the image is complete, V-Ray will print the minimum and maximum paths that were traced for the pixels in the image."

If we render more, we will get correct AA. I think 12 hours render time was insufficient for this scene. May be next time I'll render for 2 or 3 days

Anyway thans for the comment.

Very nice render you've got there, and the aliases that are on the chair legs, is easily fixed with a little brute-photoshopping.

Good luck with the contest.

Nothing unusual, I didn't use any environmental lights or lighting override. Only two Vray lights as a key and a fill light.
As you can see, usual studio setup.

Thanks for your interest

The floor material doesn't really match. Maybe tile it down some more, it's too big. It makes everything look like it's a miniature.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

accodeum In reply to letmefragyou [2006-09-22 15:48:24 +0000 UTC]

Floor material is oak black natur laquer finish with 45cm x 10cm dimensions. I used Parador and Ecotimber archives as reference. I think this proportion problem is about perspective distortion due to camera lens.

Anyway thanks for advices and notices, I'll remind this issue next time

It's not a uniqe design, manipulation of an IKEA chair. Also I've used lots of image references from different chair designs. I'm against "put an object from library then press render" style in my personal projects.

You can find that kind of stuff in [link] and [link]
