One of those cases where what was supposed to be a quick doodle went right and then took on a life of its own, eating up most of my afternoon and evening. Started with just a face, a female face no less (I think it's a boy now...) and ended up with... this. My dad said it's got kind of a Polar Express vibe. My mom just thinks it looks like that guy from Fallout Boy.I didn't decide on that extra backlighting until it was almost done and I think it shows, but that's still gotta be one of the best faces I've painted.

Actually, it was completely random that I found your gallery at all . . . but I thought I'd take a poke around. And then I found this. And I'm very impressed.
It's a very realistic effect, without feeling *just* realistic. It's . . . got style to it, which is to say emotional subtext. 
The soft grey-white lighting is really nice. Mellow.
And that eye is looking at me. (It's right that there's only one, somehow . . . the 'hiding' feel of the hair goes well with the darkish setting, backlight, and the hood.) Also, the color scheme is great for conveying mood and temperature, and it makes the face just leap. Which it probably would in a room like that.

I like the windows in the back, and her eyes and the hood, but I think the cheek is a little too bright. Other than that the image is really cool! Lighting is interesting, and I'm wondering what's shining on her face.

Thanks, I think? XD; I love lips. I think it's some sort of subconscious rebellion after all those years of drawing anime, in which people have no lips at all... now I have to make up for it by giving everybody big fat lips.
