This is... argh! For the life of me, I can't think of a name for it yet that sounds like it could have come from the movie...Anyways, this is a OC Kaiju from Pacific Rim; after seeing on the fan art appearing on deviantArt inspired by this masterpiece of a kaiju/giant robot movie, I knew I had to contribute!
What is also special about this pic is that it's the first time I've tried using a glow effect in my designs! I personally like what I did with the glow in the mouth, considering it was my first attempt at something that different! The glowing marks on the body are also new, although I've tried the effect out once before, with okay results, I guess.
This Kaiju's a Category II [smaller but faster than larger Cats III to IV], and follows a similar physical design as the Cat III Knifehead, only slimmer, more raptor-like, with long-legs and tail, and a pair of massive bone blades for the primary pair of arms!

Here are a few ideas, none of them very we'll thought. Sharkasuarus, Predator, Slasher, Doomsday, and to keep up with the tradition of names that actually mean something, Deshora. Spanish slang for inconvenient time. Because what ruins your schedule more than a giant monster eating Tokyo.

They're all pretty good names, especially Deshora... but I already named him Scimitar; you can't see it in this pic, but he has a pair of enormous bone blades coming out of his forearms. This is a full body sketch of him fav.me/d6tsxb0 I just never got around to updating the pic, sorry about that.

The trick with Kaiju names is to look up where existing ones came from. Raiju is a mythical Japanese creature, so logically Chilong or Mizuchi (also Japanese myths) would be good names. Similarly, Scunner is a piece of Scottish slang that means disgust, so I looked up other Scottish slang words. Dreich, Thrawn and Stramash all have similar negative connotations. Other fan-made names I've seen include Krakatoa, Staghammer and Selachi. Hope this helps you name your Kaiju!

Good luck with that... though its a Category II, this thing is a newer generation Kaiju, and is more than capable of challenging even a Mark V Jaeger like Striker Eureka [on its own it wouldn't win, but with back-up, this thing would become one of the best Jaeger-killers!]
The Category system for Kaiju is determined by the Serizawa Scale[ ], which designates Kaiju based on mass, toxicity, and radiation generated when they pass through the Breach; just because this one is just a Category II, doesn't mean its not any less dangerous than a Category IV!

It was spectacular, the pinnacle of giant monster movies... at least until Godzilla 2014 comes out! But Pacific Rim will still be one of my top three favorite movies of all time!

The first would be said Godzilla 2014 movie, and the other one would probably be... Marvel's the Avengers, although it will likely move to fourth favorite movie once Pacific Rim 2 comes out!

Gipsy Danger is my second favorite Jaeger, I mean, its the main Jaeger, after all, so it's hard not to like the design... plus, the plasma cannons are awesome!
