.This piece was a bit of a challenge to not go over board on color becasue the dragon is black with highlights of glowing blue.

used some references, but I started out with the idea in my head when I was drafting it and the commissioner told me what he wanted in detail. I used a few different cat images just for the pose, then used some lizards images to get the feel of the body.

yea. I have been building onto my stock images that I use for refencing animals or people when I can't think of how they move or hold their position. I also have a little artist modle dude that I use occastionally.
