Description
... he was immersed in darkness, but his remaining senses were wide awake. A pulsing light in the distance was his only union with reality. As the light grew, each pulse held for longer than the last. The light became euphoric and he could contain his humility no longer, the time had arrived and he would be judged.edit: re-scanned and cleaned to remove previous dust and faults

I LOVE IT!! It's probably my favourite one of all my favourites, and generally all the pics i've seen on deviantart! The light effect on such a small figure is intense, it has so much overwhelming tension locked inside it. woah...... I'm just stunned.

I can't help but laughing.
Looks like those poses pin up models take.
But with this one the light and its effect are more visible. The DOF is good too. The blurry arm is an interesting frontground.

At first I thought the pose was one of a dancer, a very dramatic and dynamic movement. But then I read the title, and it fit even better. It really does look like a human shielding his eyes from the sun. Your gallery has proven to be a great place for me to wander through!

I agree with the DOF and I see what you mean about the negative space. I'll play around with composition more next time and will upload a new one!

I love the light on the doll/mannequin/whatever you're supposed to call him. How about Joe? Yea... I love the light on Joe, because he does seem quite immersed in darkness and that much light would be blinding... but it doesn't compromise the rest of the picture... If you understand that
And I do like the bit of graininess, too. I think it should be a bit more in focus around the head, but the blurriness and graininess seems to enhance the shrouding of the darkness.
I think perhaps there should be more negative space on the right side... crop it closer on the left? I don't know, he looks a bit awkward where he's at to me.
But overall, I really like this piece. Good work

Wow, who would've thought that an inanimate object could be so expressive! The lighting is perfect. I'm not sure if I like the out of focus arms or not.. but either way, wonderful work!

Exelent interpretation of the shot. Good contrast and light play. Overall excelent shot tho i wished the arms were more in focus but that is beyond the point..

My plan for the shot was to havea very shallow DOF, however, seeing the result I tend to agree with you about making them in focus.
