This is the best rendition I've seen of the world that made astrobiology a pop-culture topic. I actually spend my summers there.

Indeed it is. & yes, I actually spend my summers on Darwin IV. I use a combination solid volumetric display simulation system (for housing)/replicator machine system (for food & water)/disintegration system (for waste disposal) for the vacation home, all powered via a solar panel that generates electricity from the infrared radiation emanating from the vacation home itself. Since it absorbs 100% of the infrared, I don't have to worry about interfering with the infrared-controlled aspects of the lifestyles of Darwin IV's natives. Since any source of infrared other than the power supply doesn't generate enough infrared to interfere, I ignore those. It's just solid light holograms & replicators (neither of which generate infrared). Also, it's perception filtered, so it's only visible to any people using it & its holographic natives. This way I really don't have to worry about the vacation home screwing with the lifestyles of the native species.

You can't. I had to build it myself using alien tech (my ex-girlfriend was an alien) that I no longer have.

In case you're wondering about the "alien girlfriend" thing: I'm a magnet for the supernatural, & it turns out most things people consider "mythological" or "supernatural" are actually extraterrestrials (no, I haven't read "Chariots of the Gods", & have never heard of this book until after finding out about "alien supernature").

It doesn't help that my interest in both speculative biology & obscure mythology has caused me to over-think what could have made me that way.
