If you know anything about me, it might be that my favorite movie is the first How to Train Your Dragon. I've said several times that I could watch it on loop til the end of time and never get bored of it. HTTYD speaks to me on a deep, personal level. It makes me so incredibly happy.

So it may come as a surprise that I am seriously NOT looking forward to this one; it's conclusion. From just the trailer, I think it's pretty obvious that it's going to end with dragons going into hiding permanently. It shatters my heart just thinking about it.
With that theory in mind, the antagonist in this movie is already the worst. He is worse than every other animated antagonist I have ever seen. Even worse than the hunter that killed Bambi's mom. He is the sack of pus that is the reason dragons had to leave. He is the epitome of "This is why we can't have nice things."

Dragons are my favorite animal, and the thought of a village where people live with them is just everything. It may be stupid of me, but I like to pretend that I could live there in another life.
So, thinking of dragons disappearing from the known world is like the world just ending to me.
It feels like mourning.
It's the sun going out.
It's eternal winter to me.
And I just don't want to face that.

So why make a fan art of it?
I still love the parts of the trailer that introduce new wonders and new hope. The introduction of another Fury is so sweet. Toddler Hiccup is absolutely adorable. Dragons are everything. White dragons especially! lol

I tried to give this a design like a yin-yang. Light with dark on one side, dark with light on the other. I hope it came out well. I hope you like it!
