I went whitewater rafting yesterday, but obviously couldn't take a camera so I tried to capture the scenery later that night using photoshop and my tablet. The rocks had a lot more red tone in them but i think it gives you basically the same idea.Except the water is technically going the wrong way in this pic but details schmetails.
Highlights of the trip:
It was a group of about 5 rafts, with roughly 7 people and a guide per raft.
The first class IV rapids our raft maneuvered perfectly, but the final raft was too slow and ended up hitting a rock pretty hard and threw two people completely off. We had to catch them as the floated downstream.
Then our raft got REALLY stuck at another class IV. No one got thrown off but our raft was so wedged between two rocks we couldn't get unstuck even with everyone leaning to one and using a rope to pull the other side out of the water. Everyone except the guide and the two strongest guys had to leap off the raft and swim for shore (that was the scariest part). It ended up taking all the guides to get that damn raft unstuck (there were like 3 on shore pulling (via a system of ropes and pulleys) and another two pushing/lifting the front end out of the water. That took like half an hour...
Then after that we got hit with a brief thunderstorm, ensuring even those who didn't fall off/jump in the water got wet.
Then I got smacked into the cliff face as we maneuvered around a curve :C I lost my paddle....
but then we saw a rainbow like this peeking out between the two mountains
TL;DR it was an eventful trip
Now I'm in Durango.

yeah we had to drive aaaallll day to get to Durango :I
but I really like it, it's a cute city/town and the scenery is gorgeous.

Apparently they've never ever had it happen before, so we just must have really bad luck xD
(especially since today we rode a train which subsequently broke...)

The train went through San Juan park, and it was built sometime in the 1930s or something? It was really pretty and everything, it just... broke xD
(actually it was pretty minor but we had to decrease speed to less then 10mph until we reached a town xD;; )

haha I was vague because I'm not sure how I feel about it! I had fun and am glad I did it, but not sure I'd want to do it again xD;
I'd like it better if there weren't any class IV rapids, I think... (getting slammed into cliffs isn't that much fun...)

i guess eventful meaning that it was an experience your glad you had. maybe you wont do it again but at least you can say youve dont it!
