I like how the face is covered and it makes me wonder what she is. Is she representing Death (or war) itself, the unknown and faceless? Or is she the warrior who believes in the concepts of 'patriotism, war, 'the greater good', 'protecting one's country', but is unable to look those she kills in the eye? She has to cover her face so she doesn't see that they might not be so different from her. Or she knows they're not, but feels its her duty to kill anyway.
I think she might be the former. I think humans are inherently a war-like species. We thrive on conflict. Hell, even stupid crap like comments on Youtube or this very DA page show that people LIKE to fight and argue, they like to have something to hate and fight against. But I suppose it's a trait that could be 'cured' or 'watered down' in the very least... some people are of course, more violent then others and some are more passive. I wonder if a generation of human could actually be bred to be more docile by only 'breeding' the non-violent? Oh the story ideas... LOL
Sorry for rambling on so much. But fantastic picture... it made me think and I'm sure that was the point!

This is so profound and has strong emotional impact on several levels, and your expression has its intended effect: war as a seducer, using power as the siren song to lure men to their deaths. Her lips look kissable but her eyes are hidden as to look into them is to see her true purpose, and reveal her ugliness. Wherever she walks becomes wasteland.
Superb! Magnificent! Well done.

Mannmann, mein lieber Algenpfleger,I´m not sure if should be upset seeing WAR depicted as SOO damn sexy...(forget it,hadn´t read the description yet)
I hate and love how we can´t see her eyes, imagining that if one would see them, even only through this painted picture he/she would immediately die in a shock for a human being couldn´t stand the gaze..Dunno,I find some nice symbolism in this idea.
I can´t completely share the idea you´re trying to transport since I´m quite aware of war still being a neccessary function of (human)life, just as forms of it, in more primitive ways, have always been, not only amongst humans.
Videogames addressing the topic aren´t to be demonized for what they depict imho since they simply follow ancient biological instincts, especially in younger males.Still,a real war is something no human being should have to live through,on whichever side, but I´m convinced that in fact real physical wars are a thing that humanity is just getting over, while those in the cybernetic world will increase and render real bloodshed unneccessary.
Unfortunately a 100% peaceful world would mean strong, very strong suppression in wide parts of the world as long as there still are human monkeys running around, convinced that they have to fight anyone with a different opinion about just another monkey god.

I agree completely with the point you're trying to make, but I'm not sure that would have been the meaning I took from that image without reading the description. Especially the jets passing overhead seemed a bit too, well, cool instead of scary. Covering her eyes is a good idea though, a strong hint.
I completely understand your quandary though. Having her walk through a field of carnage and bodies might seem triumphant instead of horrible.
One idea would be to have her pass through an endless field of gravestones, maybe with different designs to show the passing of time and the many different wars. Personally, one experience that really got me thinking was visiting one of those military cemeteries, and seeing, I don't know, fifty thousand, or how many, gravestones drives home a point that a statistic cannot, the sheer SCALE of that much suffering. Not sure if an image could convey that in the same way, though.
Not sure if this covers the exact same thought, but I was immediately reminded of the lyrics when reading your thing:
[link]
Following that thought, it might be an idea to depict her as withered and old, to show that war is an ancient, ancient thing. Then again, that would attempt to show war itself rather than the seductiveness of it's glorification.

for years and years (ya know when your young and you make up characters) iv'e had an imaginary character with blue hair, wings, and a looong tail. over the years she has developed, and im still to draw her properly after all these years. the tutorial for this is astounding, and nearly brought me to tears when i first saw this image here. i cant thank you enough for this image, it means so damn much to me. i dont mean super saturation mode blue hair, or anime style angel wings, (tho of she started this way xDD) its so irritating because i know what she looks like but still need to get my hands in gear and draw an up to date image of her. (since first drawing her when i was 13, omg looking back its a terrible drawing hehe. you sir have inspired me to get on with it. what touches me the most, is that i developed her in my head out of a will to see an end to suffering and war in the world. (and i, as im sure many creative imaginative peoples, all wish and hope that maybe someday, we can manifest these characters and beasts we think of in waking life... teehee)
thankyou so so sooo much.... you have no idea what this image means to me. i see my alter ego in this image, and im sure im not the only one.

the painting is great, your views are not. when there are 14 year olds in the congo that are given guns and ordered to rape and kill a harmless video game that uses violence as a form of entertainment is insignificant by comparison. and as for de sensitisation, some might argue that it convinces jarheads to go to war but i think its good to let people know how horrible our world is albeit through comedy or film or video games, thats why when people mention shawshank redemption people shrivel up saying "euugh i don't want to watch a man getting raped" because our culture wants to pretend that kind of stuff doesn't happen. even though that film doesn't feature rape at all
sorry if i bore you with huge chunks of text but I didn't want to simply say you're incorrect and not give an argument as to why.

you know i dont think there is anyone heartless enough to actually laugh about gore and death. Even if they say it, deep down they know its bad. The Human body wasn't created to laugh at death but to pity anyone who dies. Take the Nazis. They were people following a terrible man but most of them still had a wife and kids to take care of. and most people didn't bat an eye lid for them.

NOW... taking back the serious issue of ur artwork meaning as always as violence, gore, war stays only in fiction an not in reallity It can b enjoyable... coz noone is being harmed for example: u can love war movies, police thriller movies were there r always a killer; but that doesnt mean u wont react with disgust b4 a real killer, with sadness b4 war, abuse etc. thats the way I see it... peace

I guess you should not bother reading this (I wouldn't if I'm you)
1.This is a beautiful artwork (typical comment)
2.Your description created a controversy (yeah you knew this too)
Guess making some art with meaning is hard. But it is interesting how each people look at them differently. That's why a picture is worth 1000 words! (waaaay cliched phrase)
I can not draw as well as you can (not even in my dreams!)
But I would like to point one thing, the sword. Assuming light rains down from the front, top left corner (where i think it comes from), shouldn't the sword region nearer to her be dark and further from her be bright? Because either she or her wing would block the light. Perhaps her reflection will appear on the sword or her wing's.
