Description (Buteo jamaicensis) is a bird of prey, one of three species colloquially known in the United States as the "chickenhawk," though it rarely preys on standard sized chickens. It breeds throughout most of North America, from western Alaska and northern Canada to as far south as Panama and the West Indies, and is one of the most common buteos in North America. Red-tailed Hawks can acclimate to all the biomes within its range. There are fourteen recognized subspecies, which vary in appearance and range. It is one of the largest members of the genus Buteo in North America, typically weighing from 690 to 1600 grams (1.5 to 3.5 pounds) and measuring 45–65 cm (18 to 26 in) in length, with a wingspan from 110 to 145 cm (43 to 57 in). The Red-tailed Hawk displays sexual dimorphism in size, with females averaging about 25% heavier than males.

lol thanks I tried. Anyway, I am in my early teens but really enjoy art and you are a great inspiration so thank you for that as well. I was just wondering- how do you get your black backgrounds to be so perfectly dark without being glossy and shiny? I am curious, because I have tried both graphite and charcoal. PS: it has been a while since I posted anything new so probably going to do so today (it's a wolf head- inspired by your wolves)

A first glance upon this artwork should stun the very eyes that are glaring into the effort this amazing artist has placed into their drawing. You should not only be amazed at this outstanding work, but you should be surprised at the incredible beauty brought fourth within. It has already been proved to me that the artist took quite some time in creating this masterpiece, as the very details shown before you are remarkable. They had taken their time and spent it on creating and accomplishing this, and in the end it came out exquisitely beautiful.
The vision, originality, technique, and impact are so very hard to judge. This work could be represented in a thousand different ways before one was to come to an agreement with another's judgement. Allow me to give you one last message on this work's beauty and inspiring image. Writing a critique for this artwork is amazingly difficult, but judging all rates for this, it is even more laborious.
In my view, this could have reached five stars in all rates if the drawing had some sort of background to represent. Instead, I am giving it the stars that it deserves. It is fact that one cannot completely judge a work of art and give it the correct amount of stars, but I think that I am giving it the ones that are right. I guaranteed that others would rate this another way, but for now, this is how I have viewed it.

In the final conclusion, this is a work that one could never describe in words. It is just that astounding.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such respectful words .

I'm with you, it's sometimes hard to identify when a piece will be better with a plain background or a subtle gradient that makes justice to the main subject. As you rightly said it's not easy to describe a concept, idea or a piece in words, that's the reason why I use pencils.

I appreciate your kindness and the way you express it .

Such soft attention to the feathers... You can even see the individual strands that make every feather up! How you get so much detail on an A4 size drawing is amazing. Another brilliant piece

Simply Splendid! I marvel watching hawks daily, as we have a few that decided to use our yard as their hunting grounds. The way they swoop and soar, is breathtaking. Your work is stunning

Ambro,
Again that wonderful accuracy of expression and the detailing of the feathers, where again, as the viewer, you expect the hawk to suddenly jump out at you. It's as if this bird is saying, "Hello, what do you want". I am, yet again, totally in awe of your abilities, not only the anatomical accuracy, but the emotions, (which humans perceive the animal to be displaying), just take your art work to a level all of its own.
Thanks again for sharing your art.
Simon

Always a pleasure to read anyone of your comments Simon! I really enjoy reading.
I think I'm better expressing feelings with grafic art than words and the sentences you wrote are the kind of emotions I want to comunicate.
Fortunatelly art is about technique but also about feelings and I'm glad that I could transmit some of them to others.
Cheers!
