Description I've had this idea for a photoshoot in my head for weeks and few days ago it was finally time to make it happen! Exploring the nearby forests at 5 in the morning again, rolling around in dirt and almost freezing my fingers off, again.

If your interested in any "behind the scenes" shots, they can be found in my LJ: [link]

Oh what a wonderful photo! Your boy is very handsome and the way the shirt is draped looks really realistic to me.

Funny how so many say that, even though water doesn't affect resin at all. o_o Sure you need to dry the elastics and metal hooks well afterwards, but that's all.

Thanks for he faw, btw ♥

Yup, I've done my research and never found anything bad happening to resin when exposed to water for short amounts of time. I don't know what would happen is you'd leave the doll soaking for days or weeks though, but I don't think that's necessary XD

Thank you ♥ Funny that, I guess it could be the skin tone, perhaps? Tan shows all the tiny details in the sculpt more effectively, giving it a bit more mature look, I think. I love it how bronze DZ's tan is, but for my Cosmo I needed normal pink skin :3

'Welcome. Really? I never thought of that. I just thought it's the faceup and eye size? Does your boy have a default faceup? But yes, I love the bronze on tan Cosmo too. (I've never seen other sculpts tan but I think Yuu's are darker?) And I love seeing different characters and skin tones for the same sculpt so it's great to see yours.

amomiu In reply to Ramzaa [2011-06-01 19:40:57 +0000 UTC]

Could be the face up too, since I did his faceup myself. I've also been meaning to get smaller eyes for him, the recommended 14mm is way too big for my taste, and in these pics he's wearing 12 mm acrylics which still aren't small enough for my liking. XD So 11mm or 10mm is next I guess?

At least to me it seems like darker tans seem to bring the details of the sculpts out more, thus giving contrast and more mature, sharper features (unless the sculpt is really round pudding-face style XD). I'm not sure, but that's how I tend to view them. I've also seen DZ's Saka and Mo in tan in meetups, the color seems to be quite same as in your photos of your Cosmo. Light affects it a lot in pics, though.

Ramzaa In reply to amomiu [2011-06-08 01:06:59 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. I don't know what attempted me to get a pair of lighter green eyes for him in 14mm but they are way out of proportion. I think I like the 12mms size mine has right now. Just need a lighter color so they stand out more.

"Pudding-face" XDD I see where you're going. I think light affect tan dolls more than anything else. It's ridiculously hard for me to keep his skin tone the same in all the pics I take of him. Could be just my lack of skills though. Also, I like mine a bit older than what you would typically see for doll age these days. Like he'd be 25 or 26 and most dolls are..16 and it's just awkward even when it comes to role playing. XD;

I just got some new clothes for him (and I'm waiting for another package to arrive!) so maybe I'll be a bit more inspired to photograph him in the new attire I've had a bit of problem on how to take interesting photos of him even though otherwise he's very well loved and gets lots of attention X3

Ohhh I can see why! He's a very handsome doll. New clothes! That's pretty awesome. I can't seem to find any... cheaper. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

amomiu In reply to Grim-away [2011-05-26 06:19:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they tend to be quite expensive... :/ I usually make pretty much all the clothes my dollies wear but lately I haven't felt inspired to sew, so I just decided to deal with it and blew like 160 dollars on bjd clothes And now I need to make a bunch of commission work and random clothes to sell and earn a little money back XD

But anyway, I don't know if you've noticed, but Tata's Paradise [link] seems to be a bit more affordable than most doll companies. I recommend to check them out!

Oh man. Same here. I'm so broke... I'm also a student so life doesn't
get any easier. The Doll Community here is a bunch of elitists so needless
to say... I don't fit in. I think their parents buy them their stuff, or
they still live at home. Meh. Not my crew of people.

Yeah! Tata's ok. The shipping is as painful as ripping off a bandaid though.
Cost me 40 bucks for shipping. I paid 20 at first, then the emailed me and told
me there's extra shipping on the tiny tiny box. I bought a shirt and shoes.
The shoes are ok, they're a bit tight though. Maybe it's his feet? 72s have pretty big feet.
But the shirt fit awesomely. If I wasn't choaked with shipping I'd do it again. OHH! You gave me an idea! DOA does group orders. If I get me in some of that I can get some pants and clothes.
I just don't feel like making him clothes at the moment either.

amomiu In reply to Grim-away [2011-05-27 00:53:43 +0000 UTC]

Do you mean the doll community in your local area? I'm sorry to hear you feel like an outsider. Most of the dollie people here seem very nice but there are a few which I tend to avoid, they just annoy me so much, mostly because of their general behavior and opinions. I don't really feel comfortable around them in meet-ups... I guess it's inevitable, wherever you are. Most of the bjd owners here seem to have actual jobs so them buying new stuff often is understandable, and those who are students (like me) save for months for their dolls, etc. I don't know, the idea of someone just buying bjd stuff for someone (be it their child or someone else) just seems absurd. I mean, good for them, but I would feel really guilty if I ended up selling the things later on.

That's really weird, why would Tata charge extra for such a small order? o_o I've never heard of them doing something like that before. Did they even give any reason for that? They do seem to have some problems, such as the site always claims the Paypal payment failed even though it didn't, and I've been waiting for my order to ship for 20 days... They might be busy and I'm in no hurry so no big deal, just a tiny bit inconvenient. I sent them an email today asking how long it would take for the order to ship, because it's sort of weird for it to take so long. Good to hear the products seem to be of nice quality!

Group orders are a savior ♥ The clothes I was talking about, I ordered them with a friend of mine, so dividing postage and things like that definitely make it a lot easier, even though if it's just between two people. We live close to each other, so I don't even need to mail her clothes once they arrive, I'll just hand them to her next time she visits. I regularly stalk group orders at the Finnish BJD forum, but they always seem to close right before I find something I'm interested in so I decided to make my own with just my friends.

Ahhh! Well this is Canada and despite it being a 'friendly' country it really really isn't. Most of the doll communities out here are elitists and seem a little rude to the point they call you hostile for putting your doll in the same facinity as theirs. Heaven forbid I rest him on the same table. Urgh.
Oh man! These girls just slam their dolls down to make them sit right. They were kind of offended when I said I didn't want them holding mine.
I'm kind of jealous of the larger communities where dolls have photo stories together. I wish that was me but when I go it seems I'm either heavily neglected or someone goes and says something stupid like wanting to throw my doll. Geez. If they did that I'd be in jail.

Hey I'm fine with time. LOL I'm in Canada, things usually take a month to get here from anywhere in Asia. I'm cool with long shipping times. It's DHL. In Canada DHL charges you for fuel. It's stupid and I hate DHL for it. Sometimes UPS will do the same but not as often as DHL does. Oh the shirts, shoes and hats are awesome. I love them. I think I'll do the group order again with DOA. The people in the US ship USPS, which is Canada Post here and Canada Post is everywhere.

Ohhh yeah!! I mean, on DOA they have group orders with 9 people or more so you REALLY save on shipping. Last one I did was for Nine Style and shipping for me was 3 bucks. Not bad I say!
Hey that's fine too! I stalk all sorts of group orders. Though most of them are from the US. I need to stalk a Tata's Paradice order next. They've got some awesome jeans on there for 16 bucks or so. Though I'm kinda sad the sports shoes are sold out.

Sorry, it took me ages to reply

Sigh, that's just awful. I can't believe they treat their dolls like that, let alone make jokes about throwing them and such. I'd probably give up after the first meet up and avoid them the best I can XD Though it's a shame if there really isn't any other group with which you could meet. :/

Usually orders with clothes seem to come quite quick, withing 2 weeks or so, so I was wondering why it took so long this time... Tata replied to me and it turned out one of the items we ordered had suddenly gone out of stock. Oh well, now it's resolved and I expect the order to arrive soon

Hopefully can take part in some Tata's group orders then It's always nice to get a little something new for one's dolls ♥

Nah don't worry about it. LOL messages usually sit in my inbox here for a while until I reply to them so... I'm replying!

I don't understand the people at the doll meets here. It really doesn't make me want to involve myself. I'm not visually pleasing myself, working on that though. Anyway, I agree... regardless of what we look like, we're all human. Sadly some people don't see it that way.
I'm going to try Toronto if there are meets... hoping they're a bit nicer.

Awesome!! I'd like to do that shortly. I want to get him some new shoes. Oh it's fantastic to get something new for them. Makes you want to take them out for another photoshoot!
