Neptune, 8th Planet of our solar system. I took a little artistic license with the rings.February 2010
Acrylic ink on deep canvas, painted edges. 20 x 20inches.

I painted it on canvas. Wet technique and dry brush to finish details... Its a crapy answer to a big question...

the background seems almost like watercolor, it's so delicate.

Thank you so much. Its acrylic ink, so a little thicker than watercolour. But acts similarly when mixed with water.

I love the colors and composition, you always work so great in this kind of themes.
The Neptune rings you did looks awesome and Neptune aswell, i think the green/yellow nebula is perfect in this work because makes a nice contrast with the rest of the work.

Do you think something like this, not this exactly (I'd never take an idea ha) would work with just acrylic paint, oil pastel, and cheap canvas??

This is very interesting. I haven't seen anything like this done with acylic ink before and I like it very much. The colors you used are great, and I like how it looks like little asteroids floating around in space. This is an excellent deviation
