the gills stand out nicely, and have a
hypnotic feel.

You know, I tend to take myself too seriously ... I find myself losing the joy of painting in the joy of the struggle... then just becoming struggle. I think I need to allow myself more of a magickal feel, and try to focus on that throughout the painting. I love your whimsical view and the finished product is gorgeous. I am hoping that I'm sensing right in that you enjoyed creating this one.
I've never used rice paper, that looks like an interesting effect. I am truely in awe of your work. I love this.

And rice paper and oil huh?..never heard a that combo. Do you just paint the paper in as you paint ...or apply it all before you even begin to paint and then paint on on top of it ?

I stretched the raw canvas, primed it with gesso then applied the layers of rice paper with an acrylic medium and tried to seal most of the paper. From there I just painted with the oils. It is a crazy texture to work on.
