Description Finally getting this uploaded! It's *CarrieExMachina 's character Trisk, who has a very fun design, commissioned by an extremely patient *CarnelianKey . Download to see the full (huge) thing!

While we're on the subject, guys - I'm told Carrie's burned down recently, which is completely awful, and some of her friends are doing cheap commissions to raise money to help out. Check out *melodykenstara 's, ~CrazilyHazy 's, ~gumdrop331 's or *CarnelianKey 's pages for more info.

Carrie, sorry to hear about it, and I hope you like the painting!

As usual, ~~comments from anyone are welcome~! I ♥ comments.

The paintings in your gallery are already really awesome! Yess, do mooore. Haha, but painting is like going into a trance: you come out hours later with a whole part of your life missing (but something nice to show for it).

Sounds like a better use of my time than playing DS tetris, which has all of the trance and none of the product.

Well, I have to admit that most nights I instead come home nd opt for the trance state of loading up some tv, and knitting.

But SOMETIMES there is painting! >>

Oh tv, your shiny colours and moving pictures have sucked away many an afternoon~ We have no cable but the bountiful, bountiful internet more than makes up for it in lost hours.

(All hail the hypnotoad)

Yeah, same here - why conform to tv's demanding hours when you can just watch what you want, when you want (more or less)?

On the plus side, I have this giant pile of scarves.

Scarves are awesome! I have a pair of mittens on strings, though that hardly compares.

Also, I read that last bit as a lightsaber noise and am now picturing jedis leaping around with long, flowing scarves.

In art school we were always considering some kind of centrifuge device, or possibly a vacuum.

>> *puts on hard hat* no stealies. (On a serious note, though, I'm always open to answering any art questions people might have, so you're always welcome to sock me with a 'how id you do that' or 'do you have a trick for doing x' anything.)

That would be most helpful!

And, in all seriousness, I'd definitely have to take you up on that. I truly love how you color; you're fantastic. I've been meaning to try my hand at a real project, but haven't given it a swing yet...

Go for it! I've got a basic method tutorial around my gallery somewhere, and I have a huge favourites folder of general painting tutorials. If you're interested, I can link you some of the ones I found most helpful (I use photoshop, mainly). Everyone digitally paints differently, but it's fun to snipe methods from a bunch of artists and sort of mash it together to make your own style.

Would you? C:
I'm not sure what kind of brush I'm going to work with yet, but I do like water color. It's just a little harder to do :/
And I agree, sniping to mix and mash is a great way to create your own style. It gives you some ideas as to how to throw in your own.

Well, to start with, in photoshop you can download new brushes and create your own brushes to suit your own wants for painting. Here's a quick tutorial introduction to photoshop brushes: [link]

Here's a good tutorial describing some general colouring theory for skin: [link]

I've always loved this artist's style, and this tutorial includes adding texture to things: [link]

This one is nice and simple and has some interesting methods: [link]

Let me know if those help.

8DDD I'm glad you like it! I have to admit that before he told me which character he'd like me to draw, he linked me your stuff and I was looking through your gallery and stopped at a few images of this gentleman and thought, 'oh, I hope it's him.'

Hahahah! Awesome! He is one of my favorites (which is, of course, why he has his own folder). I am going to be doing, like, a psychotic little merry dance all over my dormitory now.
