Goodness. Finally done. And happy to finally upload it! Obviously, I'm stoked for the reboot of the Sailor Moon series!!!
..and sad that it might be pushed back to 2014.
**I used this texture which I fell in love with when it got its DD way back when. I use it for the medallions with the inner senshi's symbols and the gradient effect on the stained glass halo.
**Also, I have used, once again, this tutorial to make the starry sky and sparkle clusters.
I wanted to incorporate elements from Byzantine art and make the portrait have the feel of a religious icon.

Edit: Here's a version where I played with contrast and the colors for a very soft pastel feel.
And I fixed some things I noticed with her face. Here's some detail images in my scraps here of the old version.
Edit AGAIN: Added the gold frame which was an element I had originally intended for this piece. Touched up Serenity's face again too.

THE DETAIL! This must have taken AGES, I applaud you. I really like the look of her hair as it fans out and especially once it overlaps the frames. I guess I just really like that art nouveau look. I bet you would draw a mean art nouveau piece! (:
Oh man, and the tumbling roses are a gorgeous touch too. I'm amazed you manage to come back to your old artwork and touch it up. Such dedication.
The only thing I wonder is if the eyebrows might look better a bit darker. Right now they're quite light and kind of blend into her face which gives her a slightly alien quality (which is also kind of cool if that's what you're going for). Just a thought!

You're right about the eyebrows! My sister's always reminding herself to keep her eyebrows a few shades darker whenever she bleaches her hair haha. I was torn between darkening the brows cause I liked the glowiness of the face as a whole. But I think I'll continue experimenting with this to see if I can keep the glow+darker eyebrows to better frame the face. And thank you for the compliment and advice!!!
