Description He's a naga character from my fantasy story. I haven't named him yet, but I lurve him very much.

Colored the pic with markers first, but didn't like how it turned out so I colored over it in Photoshop (except for the background). Critique is appreciated, since I haven't had much Photoshop experience.

Great use of color! He looks so badass

I only know about nagas from Buddhist scripture and they don't look like this one. I'm curious to how nagas have evolved in the fantasy world since then.

Also they tend to look more half human half snake in Hinduism.

I've heard about Nagas in Buddhism (didn't one shade the Buddha as he was meditating?) but I'm basing this guy on a fantasy version (usually seen as a snake-taur or anthro snake).

It's interesting how fantasy art often adopts concepts that have to do with religion... there are angels seen as Christian messengers, and angels seen as whimsical fantasy creatures. I guess after a certain point the scriptural and secular accounts diverge into completely different "species".

I might write some stories about my characters in a while... but I'm not going to post my main story online b/c I'm afraid its crucial concepts and ideas will get stolen. But I'm glad you're interested!

I know how you feel - that if you share them, things will be stolen. But my main problem is that when I try to write my stories, I'm so obsessive over vocabulary choice and sentence structure that I have a hard time getting beyond a page I'll have to overcome that

That's a bit like me... If I write slowly, my muse wanders off; but if I write fast, my writing isn't as good... too many simple sentences. D:

I usually come up with ideas by listening to classical music and envisioning stories in my head... I just let them wander in.

I definitely understand that. I just have to come up with my own style and not try to mimic the easily digested style common in today's world.

That's very unique. I don't know what spieces he is. Is he a snake person? Because that is really cool. Not bad for not having much experience in Adobe Photoshop or did you do it in Photoshop Pro?
