This is a little different than what I usually draw. Normally my Discworld art is a scene from one of the books, or a drawing of a character... this is a drawing of something that might happen later on in the series. It depicts the meeting of Tiffany Aching and a now grown-up Eskarina Smith. It has been rumored for some time that in the next Tiffany Aching novel might include a return of Esk, whom we haven't seen since "Equal Rites". Well I figured if this does happen, then Esk would have to be an adult, considering how much time has passed since "Equal Rites", ( not to mention the "Time Jump" that happened in Wyrd Sisters")... and I foresaw a humorous scene in which Esk and Tiffany exchanged stories of Granny Weatherwax from the point of view of her former and current apprentices. Now it is entirely possible that this may never happen. Even if Esk does show up in the next Tiffany book, she may be introduced as a villain, or may not get along with Tiffany at all, or any number of other scenarios... but this is what I saw happening.This drawing is not as polished as my usual art, but I am still fairly pleased with it.

i agree that granny always appeared hunched over in my mind, she looks like a total sexy stern schoolteacher here, but esk and tiffany are exactly as i pictured them, awesome job

I realy like how the Tiffany books can make you laugh your ass of at one moment and then make you cry the next.

Yay! It's here! Esk and Tiffany meet! And...without giving away too much I'm afraid your interpretation of Esk is way off...she's apparently a bit older now and can WALK THROUGH SPACE AND TIME; she's basically gone from accidental wizard-girl to someone with powers that are practically on par with anthropomorphic personifications like Death and Time. I gotta admit: I never saw that one coming, but isn't that just typical of Pratchett? Oh, and there's a little hint in the book that foreshadows more stories about Esk in the future...

errie isn't it? There was an actual scene very similar to this in I Shall Wear Midnight, though Granny wasn't there, and Esk is a bit older looking.

Very nice. I could actually picture that happening. I've also herd that Esk may make an appearance in I Shall Wear Midnight. I hope so, and if she does, I hope she and Tiff will get along. It would be really funny to see them talking about their experiances of Granny XD

Ha! Yes, I'd forgotten about Eskarina - or at least forgotten her name.
You know what I keep wanting to show up in the Tiffany stories? In "Equal Rites" Esk says "There's male witches." Which Granny Weatherwax dismisses as "Warlocks." .... but there's been no mention since. With all that's been developed about Witches in Diskworld, how would a boy-witch fit into that, I wonder?

I miss Esk in the novels - I wonder where she could be now, as she's never around at Unseen... I'd love to see a scene like this - Tiffany reminds me strongly of Esk, strong, brave, a little reckless, smart - they'd probably get on well.
This is a great picture of Adult!Esk; she seems to be getting on rather well as a female Wizard (even if Granny is a bit sniffy about it). The robes and hair are drawn so well. Lovely.

i really like it, although i always thought of granny weatherwax as more short and stout rather than like professor McGonnagal in harry potter, still at least we know who could play her in a TV adaption
