Personality//Background:
Rain Dash was born in the fast paced city of Las Pegasus and was the youngest of Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles. From a foal, Dash was always bounding about. Her parents struggled to keep up with her hyper personality and even more hyper speed. Dash has always been a hotheaded and confident mare, not caring what any pony thinks of her. Rain adored attention as a foal and the thing that got the most attention was her ability to excel in sports. She was, and still is, the definition of a jock. A loud, cocky, rambunctious but well meaning mare, who showed love through headbutts and chants.

Many ponies were surprised when Rain Dash joined the military, expecting the athlete to continue her career in racing. That was never Dash’s dream though, she always wanted to be apart of the Wonderbolts; Equestria’s most elite Air Force. She spent years training and studying, aiming to climb the ranks and being taught personally by General Spitfire, eventually becoming a Captain.

Rain Dash surprisingly got along with Twilight rather quickly. Due to training in Canterlot, Rain was used to dealing with the upper crust of Equestria and understanding some troubles that they do face personally. Twilight and Dash like to discuss the politics within Canterlot and taking trips to military museums.

Quick facts:

- Rain Dash doesn’t like talking about it but as a foal she would take part in beauty pageants. She considered it very embarrassing and is teased about it by her friends quite a lot. She is able to get it to stop when mentioning that she always got first place of Rarity.

- When she was a foal, Dash constantly got into fights defending Fluttershy. Her teachers found that she was very angry, even when she wasn’t defending her friends. They encouraged her to go for sports to let some of her anger out.

- Rain first met General Spitfire when she was young. It was during a flight show and Rain was able to see through Spitfire’s disguise. She kept quiet, knowing Spitfire was a high profile pony and clearly didn’t want any attention but Spitfire was okay with talking to the little filly. Rain never forgot meeting her hero and Spitfire recognised Rain when she began training.

- Due to flock nature in Pegasi, Rain Dash is very good with foals. Pegasi don’t care if a baby is related to them or not, just that they are young and need looking after. Hence why Rain is attached to Scootaloo, wanting to care for her and make sure her feathers are neatly preened.

- Rain loves a good spa session. Compared to the aggressiveness of her chiropractic, Dash loves gentle hooves cracking her back and massaging her wings. Dash loves taking trips with Rarity for their monthly sessions, enjoying the relaxation the both deserve.

- Like all Pegasi chicks, Rain was born with brown feathers. Eventually their coloured feathers grow in as they get older. Her parents guessed, due to her blue hooves and dark brown coat, that dash would be blue and so named her Rain Dash. But when her rainbow mane came in, they nicknamed her Rainbow Dash.

- Rain Dash has an older sister. Night Glider was her parents pride and joy, a preppy and free spirited filly who adored her baby sister. When Dash was a filly, her sister disappeared. Her parents searched and searched for her, scared something awful happened to their baby. Night Glider had met Starlight, was manipulated by her and joined the “ Our Town “ cult. Her parents begged for her to come home but Night cut all contact with her family.

- Rain Dash has always been rivals with Lightning Dust. Their folks hated each other and this passed down onto their competitive kids. They’d both be lying however if they said they didn’t have some moments of passion and appreciation. Rivals 4 life though, totally.

- Rain Dash is able to perform the incredibly hard to perform sonic rainboom. Even if you perfect the manoeuvre needed to perform this trick but the speed as well. Even Dash being one of the fastest Pegasi currently living, it was still a shock that she was able to perform it. There has only been a few times she was able to do so, one of which earned her cutie mark. Rain was injured the first time and still has the scars to tell the tale.

- Moon alignment

- Twilight’s most common customer is Rain. She is often coming to the library and taking out books, asking if there was any new ones from her favourite authors. Twilight feels incredible pride from Rain’s perfect returns.

- Rain Dash is considered incredibly attractive by Pegasi standards. Typically Pegasi mares have dull colours while the males have much bolder colours to attract. The more colourful, the more attractive. Dash is not only a mare with bold colours but she has an incredibly rare combination of rainbow.

- Dash has a very high metabolism and, while she can be incredibly speedy, her stamina was subpar. So Rain spends quite a bit of time sleeping. She can sleep near enough anywhere and really likes Twilight’s library for her naps. Due to her small size, she is able to squeeze into the bookshelves. Twilight is used to this by now and just thinks that she has an oversized cat.

- Rain really loves Fluttershy but absolutely detests her brother, Zephyr. She does want the best for him but, oh boy, does she wish he’d just leave her alone. At first, she just thought it was just a little puppy crush but it never stopped. She does her best to avoid him at all costs.
