Description So I was inspired by Mearns WereGarurumon (fav.me/dchond1 ) to really work on my fur work. I'm a sucker for Digimon and decided to color one of my favorite Digimon as practice for a new technique. If you look closely you can see how the practice went. I started with the simplest part, the tail. I finished with the hands and head. As a result I think the hands and head look better than the tail.

Another reason I chose Renamon was so I could compare it to another picture that I did of her. Here---> fav.me/d8vt5ui

I still think it needs a little work, so if anyone has any pointers or critiques, please let me know in the comment section! ^^ I'd really like to improve with this. Also any ideas for who to draw next is welcome as well. I'm thinking about doing either a Pokemon or Digimon but I may go into left field and do something like Courage the Cowardly Dog or Scooby. The only requirement is the character must be covered in fur.

I made this using Adobe Photoshop CS4 and a techniqued learned from this video: youtu.be/6ZraT1pwdSo

Note: This was originally a coloring book page I found online. I traced over the premade lineart so I could spend my time working on the fur more so than drawing a good Renamon.

Renamon belongs to her respected owners.

Nice going with the shading there! You're understanding some important fundamentals such as where light is touching an object, and where darker parts would appear because of it. You made efforts to show depth through toning, especially on Renamon's foot and arms. I like the creases you added on her purple arm gloves, and you do show some essence of fur on Renamon, just like you aimed for.

The tutorial for fur you posted there is helpful! To cut down on fur work, remember that the brighter a colour is, the less detail you'd usually see on that fur. Google some photoes of arctic foxes/wolves and polar bears to get an idea of what I mean. With texturing in general, the more contrast in tone (i.e. strong light source on the character, like under a street lamp at night) there is, the more texture shows through.

Thank you! ^^ I felt like I was beginning to get rhythm for by the time I got to the hands and feet.

Thank you for the feedback! So if I want to get a better texture of fur I need to you more vibrant and contrasted collar. So if I do another Renamon or something else that color like a pikachu I need to use a stronger yellow.
