Description Yes, I am stalling.
The darn top I'm working on is being very stubborn so I'm just keeping my hands busy until I get motivated to fix it.

Your work is gorgeous! I can't wait to show your Etsy shop my husband and ask him which he wants to buy for me!
Do you make your own rings? Is it hard to do?
Sorry...this is something I always wanted to try...just seems so fiddly....and intimidating.

WOW but it looks heavy I'd wear it for specail occasions

It's actually really light. The aluminum doesn't weigh much at all.

does the chain mail serve to protect the jugular?
very cool.

As always a fantastic job. The cross may be large but to kill a Vampire you need something heavy, that will do perfectly!

I love it! I hope you don't mind me asking a question, where did you get the black rings/wire? And is the black a painted coating, the natural wire color or is the black a plastic/rubber coating on the metal?

sorry I'm hunting for colored wire.

ArmouredRaven In reply to Jetyra-Luck [2006-10-27 20:42:43 +0000 UTC]

I get my colored rings from The Ring Lord [link] ... they are anodized aluminum. The color is put on through a process of dye and electricity so it's pretty sturdy stuff.

Oooo! Black jumprings! I always seem to have troubles getting them for my work. x_x Any other type... I have no problems, but black.. Ugh.

Where do you get them?

Telling you how beautiful your work is wont do justice to your peices. They're just... Well... They always blow me away.

You're work is so inspiring, how long have you been making jewelry? Does the piece make itself or do you come up with the idea ahead of time?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArmouredRaven In reply to Scarladawn [2006-03-29 09:25:43 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thanks!
I've been making chainmaille for over 3 years and making jewelry for as long as can remember.
I sketch most of my designs out first, though usually the design process goes through many changes and I have to resketch out constantly.

I think this is terrific. Not only is it elegant and pretty (but that's expected from you - *grin*), it looks like it would be functional, from a Vampire Hunter point of view. All that lovely chain and there is no way one of the beasties could get near the neck!

Heh, I wasn't really thrilled with it at first, but I pulled it out last night when organizing and it looked so much better to me in person than the pic... now I'm not sure I want to sel it! LOL.

Thanks so much sweetie, you made me blush!

yanno, that sounds like me! when I make my lace chokers I mean . . . I'll fight with them for days and get them done, put them away ready to send to their respective owner and then take one last peek and regret it instantly! we should never EVER look at them again after they are done!

awww . . . but I mean it! that you can come up with these beautiful designs in metal no less is just astonishing . . . . they are all so beautiful, creative and stunning.

KhinaYeira [2006-03-13 16:27:07 +0000 UTC]

OMG....i could marry you.....everything you put your hands to is beautiful!....one critique. The silver metal is a little too silver against that matte black. i think a darker/antiqued grey metal would fit the mood better, buthell I'd wear it regardless.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArmouredRaven In reply to KhinaYeira [2006-03-14 18:21:52 +0000 UTC]

You're so sweet doll! I hadn't though of a more gunmetal color for the overlay, I like that idea. I did want the silver on this one to match the brightness of the cross... but I agree, a dingier grey would look super sweet.
Thanks for the warm-fuzzies!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArmouredRaven In reply to drowning-slowly [2006-03-14 18:17:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. It does take patience but if you follow some online tutorials you should get it in no time.
M.A.I.L has some good ones, [link] try out something like Byzantine or Euro 4-1 to start. It can be frustrating at first, but it will 'click' eventually... then you'll be addicted too!
