Magnificent photo, Julie! It was worth the scary trek up. I wonder what ancient cataclysm sheered away the side of the mountain.

I confess that I drove it as I just didn't have enough time to hike. But even the drive is not for the faint of heart. But then, it's a walk in the park in comparison to some of the roads I have had to negotiate her in the Swiss mountains. This area was all carved out by glaciers Brett. I took photos of the geological history in the information at the viewpoint. The glaciers actually reached up to that dome. Later I will post some shots of the panorama so you can get an idea of the scale of things, buit no time now. Last week of school. So it's a crazy one . . .

for me it's concerts and external (ABRSM) music exams with all the requisite extra rehearsals as I am the accompanist for all of them, of course. The exams are so late this year. And the kids are completely fried by this point . . .

I bet! As soon as I posted the "report cards" comment, I thought, Wait a minute! Julie's a music teacher! There must be something more involved.

Yes, indeed, you often prefer a view from the heights, I know. I have seen half dome from many different viewpoints, but this was, indeed for me, quite mind-boggling. The land in Yosemite was carved and shaped by glaciers.
When I get a chance, I will post a shot of the panoramic view from where I was standing. You can see two of the main falls and get a sense of scale. So glad you like this one!!
