There isn't much water in Yosemite in July and August. The snow melt has run off and some of the falls are completely dry or merely a trickle. The Merced river is much calmer although always dangerous over the Vernal and Nevada Falls. And with California in a 7 year drought, things are even dryer than usual. Mirror lake was but a small pond on this trip.

There's nothing quite like Yosemite Valley. With all the amazing, fantastic peaks and mountains here in Switzerland, still, Yosemite Valley is a place I never tire of and hope to be able to spend some more time there in the future. I especially want to be able to go in all the different seasons. thanks so much for the compliment!

Actually, they don't get that much rain generally, what is important is the snow pack in the mountains as that is what fills the reservoirs and the lakes. Thee hasn't been enough snow in quite a while so that's why CA is in the midst of one of their worst droughts in years. It's really hurting the agricultural production and as the Central Valley is the "bread basket" of the U.S. this is going to have an effect.

Yes......................some people in the Villages have to walk miles for water.....pretty disgusting really.
IF the Government can build Super Highways they can also provide people with water!

It is still amazing in this day and age how many people still don't have clean, running water. It is so precious in so many places. One would think that it would be a top priority.
