Wonderful detail, Sandi! I really like the pose to: all feet! Of course, what would one expect, being just hatched!
Your backgrounds serve to cement your characters and critters into an all so important context. I expect the siblings to follow in just a moment!
I love the way that you rendered the haunches on this one. Even newly hatched, the power and might which will be evident when this little one is fully grown is evident! And that expression is priceless!!

Thanks Bob. I see you noticed a couple of key points I had in mind when drawing her..........that baby animals tend to be all feet and legs (and chunky heads) and that anything as powerful as a dragon would, or at least should in my opinion show a glimmer of that power to come and dragons should have powerful haunches for the lift off. (how's that for a run on sentence

your creatures are so lively and just jump out of the pictures, although this poor creature would probibly crawl. 
When you say "graphite study" do you mean this was like a practice piece for you?

Yep, I was working out the values for it since I wanted to do it in colored pencil, Prismacolor (the golden one is the finished piece). But it really wasn't a sketch, but a finished black and white on it's own. I think that once she gets her feet under her and her head balanced in the right position she'll be toddling all over the place.
