Description Vaticano has a bit of a conservative way of thinking, but ever since his last boss (Pope John Paul II) and the SecondVatican Council he has try to be more modern, understanding and tolerant of other faiths. Having come along way from the days of the Borgias and currupt French popes, the Vatican now deals with issues such as AIDS, homosexuality and interfaith relations. Although he has an urge to tell Atheists and non-catholics that they're gonna go to Hell, he has to learn to respect their beliefs.
On a slightly related note, the Vatican has become friends with Tibet in recent years.

Just because people believe something different does not mean they will go to hell. Or well actually, I'm no expert on the subject, never having been to hell. Why not let them find out for themselves?
And Jesus did not come around telling people WHAT TO DO, He was merely a living example. And His example was to draw people into the religion that He brought by emulating Him
Pope Francis must be uncomfortable knowing that whatever he says will be distorted, misconstrued, and defied... sad, really

"the Vatican now deals with issues such as AIDS, homosexuality and interfaith relations."
He hasn't been doing a good job. I can tell you that.
