I'm so glad I finally did this one...I must firmly disagree with SSBB's claim that the Kaptain is King K. Rool's brother (as opposed to just being another one of his dissociative roleplaying personalities), but in any case, KKR is the baddest maniacal crocodile with a blunderbuss and an eye twitch to ever appear as a tough-as-nails final boss.
Technically he was a lot easier than I anticipated. I did the gun first (so it's removable), and the pattern on his skin was done with a "stamp" that I made (out of sculpey). Surprisingly, his tiny legs (not even visible here) support the big body just fine, and neither of the arms threatened to fall off at any point. I'm particularly proud of the corsair's hat and gold trim, which both up the fancy level of the piece.
The platform was supposed to be that certain type of steel flooring found in the back of many pick-up trucks (with the little bumps) but I couldn't get any hardware store to sell me a 5"x 5" piece, so I improvised with wire segments...

Apparently in Japan they interpret all the different K. Rool incarnations as brothers, whereas the Western versions, as I'm quite certain was Rareware's original intention, see them as the same King with multiple-personality disorder. I really like K. Rool as a villain because of the multiple roles he plays; he always tries something new, abandoning an entire personality that has failed him before- I imagine due not to choice, but lapses of sanity. A few too many jumps on the head, you know?
Anyway, this is awesome. I love the texture on his skin. Great work!

That is one of the COOLEST things I've ever seen!!! I'm a mega Nintendo fanboy and would love to buy that from you!!! And yes sometimes the trophy info in smash brothers is wrong,but in there defence in the Japan version of DKC2 kaptain K rool was noted as K rool's brother,but that was edited for the U.S release.

The pirate attired K. Rool was always my favorite incarnation of the DKC villain. (I like the overall pirate theme of DKC2, I almost wish they kept the Kremlings as pirates.) He was always alot of fun to fight, (I still chuckle whenever he gets covered in soot) and his battle music was one of the coolest themes in the DKC series.
Anyways great job on skulpting him. You rarelly see skulpture fan works.
