Description I actually finished one of the commissions on my list!
*collapses face-first into the floor*

I actually had this sitting in my book for MONTHS.... I wasn't confident with how it looked after I'd finished the colouring, so I did my usual technique of "leaving it alone then looking at it a long while later", and found out that it actually looks pretty good to be shown to my commissioner and amongst my watchers. And then I did a bit of correcting the line-art so that there are some thick and thin ones here and there, and voila~ It's done! Don't question my logic. I like it the way it is, being a huge hassle and all. //slapped

This character was pretty interesting to draw, given how... it's a hybrid of sorts. And her backstory is pretty interesting as well. o 3o Very unlike what I have seen around the fandom, I'll say, and despite resembling a certain mythical creature(s) that I've read about, Marina isn't any of those creatures, but of her own kind. I mean, seriously, give this character's backstory a read and you will understand why I admire this character greatly~ AND LANTERNS!!! //slappedagain

Yeah, the tail lantern is the most interesting feature that this character has. I mean, I like lanterns personally, but one being held by the rail? That's pretty awesome!~

A hybrid species with affinity for books and carries a magical lantern… I seriously love this character already. D; //shot
But, it's a great work doing on your colouring, Axe~The orange tinge you added does really give off how the lantern emits out the light in this picture! c| And same with the background too, 'cause the colors you chose does go pretty well in each other. xD

Haha, I figured that I should try something different, such as lighting and whatnot when I saw that this character has a lantern. c: Lanterns are awesome, so I can't pass the chance to try out what I've learnt from a lot of lighting tutorials around dA. And... now that I think about it, which set of colour pencils did I use for this picture? 8I

Well, lighting of a different colour, aside from white, of course~ :'D I've done the basic one for a long while, so I thought that I'd give the coloured one a try for the heck of it~ And no, I wasn't referring to that! X"D I was referring to the set of colour pencils that I'd used~
Nyeh, the same goes for my other commission pictures that I've not completed as of yet. Or gifts...... C|

Hahaha~ XD It's only two sets of colour pencils, and an incomplete set of Faber-Castell lead pencils of various grades. 8I It's not THAT much now.... :'D

*But some sets would even have different shades and tones of a certain colour without you knowing it~ D; I've went through that kind of stuff before, and that taught me a lesson to never put those two sets jumbled up together. Even if they obviously look different from each other. |c*

*I have one set that consists of 24 colour pencils, and another set that consists of 48 pencils, both of which feel rather... small, when they're still in their original boxes. 8|
It's surprisingly easier to get the colour that you want when they're still in their original arrangement, funnily enough.*

*I don't know, but that's just how my silly ole me looks at it. |D I mean, that is the largest that I've seen thus far, so I don't really know what is the largest set of colour pencils to exist in the shops.... :/
Welp. |D Looks like you have an issue at hand to work on. Please don't end up like how I did, losing a couple of my most interesting items around the house and never to find them ever again. You can begin your practice with colour pencils and arranging them according to their shades and colours~ :'D //slapped*

C'mon~ :'D You could be like that kind of person someday, you know~? Seeing how you're mostly a traditional drawer… and a writer too. xD
Then again, I did almost lose my deck cards once. 8I And that lesson also taught me to never carry those kinds of stuff along if you think it's unnecessary in the first place… such as boredom-curing~ //slapped

Oh dear oh my. 8I Now that is a really close call, and something that I can relate to as well. Nearly got my deck confiscated by a certain teacher at my school once, followed by a certain incident where the juniors of MTG were playing it anywhere possible rather than at the designated location that the club leader had set up. Nearly got the club banned in the process of studying for my exams. |D

Pfffft! x'D Okay, maybe I'm not as terrible as you~ The only I did was that I was caught twice in one of the school years, teaching my friends how to play Yu-Gi-Oh rather than doing schoolwork. |D From there on, I would only start bringing my cards out at lunchtime, and that's pretty much it.
And uhh… you and your guys were playing somewhere else when the designated spot was right there? x'D

Wow, and I thought that I was bad. |D I only pull out my cards whenever the group that I'm in has nothing else better to do (after homework and assignments are completed, of course). Even if we are in the midst of casting spells, summoning creatures, ruining each others days, we'd still talk about a bunch of random topics, from animes to politics to even religion. All done while we're killing each other. XD
Well... there's the canteen, for starters. A place where the teachers ACTUALLY go to for their meal times. |D

Well.. we actually use the Physics lab as the Dueling Grounds for MagicTG players and such, but there's also an outside area close by that we use to blast spells at each other.
