I know this flag had bad meanings in the past but it is part of history!
We cant get rid of history
Sure I can see people getting mad, since of all the slavery and other things like that
But, I don't see a problem with someone wanting the flag outside their yard or something
Please don't start a fight with me for my opinionΒ

I personally have nothing against this flag. I mean, despite living in East Tennessee and being from the great southern state of Texas, I don't really identify much with southern culture as far as its history is concerned with the confederacy. I do identify with my culture in other ways, but just not with its history surrounding the subject of the civil war. So I've never really been one to wave this flag myself. I've never really had an interest to. At the same time, however, I feel that it was really silly what all happened. So people are waving this flag around for well over a century as a part of their culture and no one bats an eye. But oh god, suddenly the SJW plague arrives and WE HAVE TO TAKE THIS DOWN IT STANDS FOR RACISM OH GOD NO THAT'S DISGUSTING IT'S THE 2010'S WE HAVE TO REMOOOOOOOOVE THIS NOW. I honestly don't know what happened that triggered that, but it was silly as fuck. Yes, it could stand for racism, and living in East Tennessee, I certainly have come across my fair share of hillbillies waving this flag and who are indeed racist. However, it also represents southern culture over the past 150 years and so I have nothing against it. Hell, most of the people that do display this flag in my town just do so because our football team is the Maryville Rebels. They don't do it because they're racists or anything like that. I've got one friend who has this flag on probably half the things in her wardrobe, has one in the back window of her truck, has it EVERYWHERE she can freaking put it, and yet she has more friends who are black than anyone else I know. I just think it's silly as hell, though, how people get all offended by this flag when there are plenty of more worthwhile things to get offended over and to try and change in this world. Like, honestly people, grow the hell up. Also, get a history lesson. The civil war was about A LOT more than slavery, and slavery was one of the smaller forces behind it. In fact, most southerners didn't even own slaves. Only the rich ones did. Anyway, back to the subject,Β as far as the confederate flag being displayed at locations such as state capitals alongside the American flag and the state's flag is concerned, I don't agree with that whatsoever. But that's out of my reverence for our nation's glorious flag and me believing that no other flag deserves to stand beside it (a state's flag being an exception, of course). But, otherwise, I've got nothing against this flag.

And this is all coming from a socially liberal Pagan. Not an extremist conservative, not a Christian, and not a someone in love with the idea of the confederacy or anything like that.

QuentinZero In reply to Perrydev [2016-03-28 11:23:11 +0000 UTC]

Don't you think a lot of people will interpret it as racist and pro slavery? This is not bad but it is bad if you don't agree with racism and slavery right?

Perrydev In reply to QuentinZero [2016-03-28 19:32:47 +0000 UTC]

If you use it for racist/bigot purposes, then it's wrong, if you use it for a flag if the south, then, yeah, it's not bad, really depends on how you see it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

QuentinZero In reply to Perrydev [2016-03-28 21:30:59 +0000 UTC]

Mm hm I see! But isnt there a better flag for the south because for that one most people will not interpret it as a south flag

We have the Christian flag, which is also under fire, and can offend. I really doubt people will change

there is racist history with this flag. That was a whole tipping point in the war for goodness sake. Racist previlaged white confederate males who disrespected woman and owned other humans of different color as if they were property.Β
Its no different than the Swastika on a Nazi flag. It's racist. please understand whatever your teacher or parents tell you about it is incorrect.

Im posting this in protest of people banning the flag. Its a direct violation of freedom of speech and the right to purchase what you want. Also, its a start to censorship of history. Its nothing more than a flag these days, so let us raise it if we wish.

An f' you isn't needed with this stamp. People who say the Confederate Flag are just crazy. It has nothing to do with that... it's about Southern Pride and being proud of your heritage. Besides, the flag in the stamp was just the Battle Flag.. I could get get into specifics, but it ain't needed.

Southern pride yall!

The Civil War wasn't even about slavery, it was about States' Rights, and the Confederate Battle Flag itself represents Southern Heritage. It DOES NOT represent slavery, racism, the Ku Klux Klan, secession, rebellion against the Union, or anything else the retarded Yankees say about us =3=
