I just realized I have not posted the heavy manipulator units from the Roan RPG to DA! Oops!The problem with designing strength amplification equipment is that you have to consider not just how much weight or force a single component can exert or support, but how much load can the overall structure take. There is limited use in having manipulator arms/legs that can lift 800lbs when the operator's spine will give out at 300lbs.
The heavy manipulator is not just a set of attachments to the legs or hoofs like the light and medium units are. Instead it is full powered exoskeleton designed to let the pony operator cope with loads far beyond what their bodies could safely handle. It spreads the load out over the entire exoskeleton. It even spreads the ground pressure of the operator out over wider surface area so it won't sink as easily into soft ground, or damage the floors of work areas. Think of smaller and slightly, lighter pony version of the Power Loaders from the move "Aliens".
Not speedy and intended for industrial application. I still imagine in the right situation a heavy manipulator unit could prove to be a nasty opponent if you let it get its manipulators on you!

Is somebody besides me remembering that the Six Million Dollar Man didn't have bionic hips, a bionic rib cage, and a bionic spine to let the bionic limbs do something besides tear Steve Austin apart or otherwise make him die squicktastically? ;D

could give a more complete explanation but if I understand correctly it is controlled by aetheric crystals which also supply most of the power for the suit to. depending on the type of crystals and their alignment they can be as raw power or for neural interface/communication with devices.

The fingers here are perhaps what have me the most interested. Not to mention the servo's for the rest of it, but im noting, that there is a far less fine control in part for them. Rather as you say, the nuance of dexterity, but with the idea of load tolerance. I admit to being curious, how the heavier models are donned. Is it more a sequential thing of interlocking mechanisms? Or more done as a seamed full ensemble? Akin to having the metal of the suit folds either out or in at places that let the pony or another four or two legged race don the suit more so?
