Some quick study sketches I did of various species rats today. I have a very large upcoming project in 2017 that is going to have me doing lots and lots of rats. So I figured doing some homework now will make my work easier down the road. Not bad for about three hours of work.I hope you like what you see. Ohhhhhh so this is the study which you've mentioned in an art stream where you've said you had plans of depicting some "nightmare inducing" shadow creatures, rats specifically, for the Roan series!
Judging by your choice of general posture, pose, and appearance, I'd say you're certainly on the right track, Baron.

This assignment will be 100% pure nightmare fuel. Going to go dredging and digging down into the darkest parts of my subconscious for some of this stuff.

Yeah it will be a case of balancing maximum impact with still making it something that can be sold to teens. Got some ideas on balance but unless I give folks nightmares and make you jump at thing in the dark I will not have done my job right.

Well some are pretty scratchy and rough in spots. As I commented I consider them just rough general reference. I will try for much more finished sketches later.
