Guh...So hi there! I'm doing my best to enjoy this recovery ride for all it's worth. And apparently today that meant more painting than I've done in one sitting in more than a year. Crazy. And it's been even longer since I stayed up all night because I couldn't stop painting. I suppose that's what I get for ignoring Erik too long.
It's the first personal piece I've gotten to spend real time on in forever, and it was awesome. It turned out way different than it started, but you know, sometimes these things choose themselves. I know there's still plenty to fix, but I really wanted to get him up for Valentine's and because well...ya'll will see problems I can't at this point. I'm surprised it doesn't look terrible on account of not painting in ages. So I suppose that's a blessing in and of itself.
I hope this is the start of a steady art flow. That would rock my socks.
And yes, I have this obsession with a balding Erik. Can't help it. I think I find it endearing or something. Critiques are welcome. Thanks!

Your notes on the anatomy are most welcome, as for all the potential problem areas, the neck is not one I think of and I definitely see your point. I will be keeping it in mind as an area to check in future pieces.

Well a lot of people think that critique must be given because SOMETHING must be wrong. Well that of course is incorrect. I am glad you found my words helpful to your improvement and if you need me to point out a few things in your future works do not hesitate to tell me so, the best type of critique is the one that helps you correct areas in which you need improvement. Be careful on the smoothness of movements and stances, we may have bones we aren't that rigid

LMAO!!! You know... ever since a certain NCIS episode with a mention of Abbie's "box bed"... I can't help but call Erik's bed a "box bed" now. 
A wonderful job! Look the look on his face. He's rather.... :: tilts head to the side ::: for the sake of keeping this PG-13... he's charming and ... appealing.

Yes the coffins are the hardest. One would never think so, but they are.
LOL... only on NCIS! That would be an interesting moment to see with Abby reacting to Erik's bed. LOL

I understand what you mean. It can be difficult to find a good reference to represent his gauntness while still preserving the strength required to creep and kill as he did. I'll definitely keep it in mind for future interpretations.

wonderful!!! his expression is kind of creepy, but amazing none the less!!!! and i do think he's mostly bald. i cant remember if they mentioned it in the book or not. i think he's only supposed to have a few strands of hair here and there but hell, i love your interpritation. nice coffin btw, I WANT IT!!!!

Thank you for saying so. I enjoy painting Leroux because I have more chance to make him 'mine' (in the sense that he doesn't need to look like an established Phantom), and I'm glad that you like the way he came out. Hopefully I can do more in the future.

Pardon me, in fact, it could be just me, but is his face slightly off center? Compared to his head it appears his face (eyes, mouth, and nose, or lack there of) is slightly tilted differently. I am not sure if this was purposely, but I thought I might mention it just in case.
Over all this is a marvelous and wonderful picture. Your style is excellent. Very well done. The anatomy is practically flawless, as for the coloring and shading you did spectacularly there as well.

It is completely possible that his face is off-center. I am terrible about not flipping my paintings as I work and I was already a long way in by the time I did. I found his face to be radically skewed. I changed it and flipped it back, but it's very plausible that it's still a bit off. I'm not sure there's much I can do to fix it further (and I rather like the idea of him being a bit 'off' in some ways), but I will do my best to be better about checking such balances earlier in the process.

I do what I can. I would love to develop 'my' version of him, as so many Phantom artists do. Though I think it's still a work in progress. Just means I should be making more Phantom art, I suppose.

I still haven't developed my version either, well not completely. He keeps changing with every year. I draw him. I just let him develop as I learn more. I'm digging your style of him though you should do more art .
