Description After the Kaiju Salamander Crypto fled into the Pacific Ocean, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force managed to get a single Sōryū-class submarine to follow after the Kaiju for observation and if necessary attack. As Crypto made his way through the ocean, he moved south east towards the Mariana Trench. The sub followed, though long before entering the Trench, Crypto began to behave strangely, landing on the ocean floor and began to behave aggressively. It was noted at this point that several massive Jellyfish Polyps were seen on around the landscape. Crypto began feeding on these Polyps as several other Kaiju sized Jellyfish entered the scene from the deepest depths of the Ocean, before the Submarine had a chance to escape however, the single largest Kaiju on record was found.

Unfurling herself, the massive Medusa emerged from the trench surrounded by dozens of comparatively smaller blooms of her cloned daughters. The Sub prepared to attack, but the massive Jellyfish ignored both the Submarine and Crypto who managed to flee shortly afterward. Since then Medusa has been followed and studied by the JMSDF and has been determined to be one of the older Kaiju in existence, possibly predating Rukh.

Unlike most other Kaiju, Medusa is relatively harmless despite her size, something of a gentle giant, all deaths and attacks attributed to her can be written off as her massive bulk and stinging tentacles. Several of her daughters have been observed that when damaged to revert to polyps and it was discovered shortly afterwards that Medusa and her clones are Kaiju versions of the Turritopsis dohrnii, also known as the immortal Jellyfish. Though the process that turned them into Kaiju appears to have resulted in her ilk acquiring strange mutations and traits seen in other hydrozoans unrelated to the Immortal Jellyfish. The cause of these mutations are still under investigation.

I'm liking this universe you're building. The size and scope here is terrifying, though I think some of the undersea plant life looks too big compared to Crypto.

You'd actually be surprised at the size several undersea species can really get. A Brain Coral colony measuring 10 feet high and 16 feet wide was the largest of its species ever discovered and kelp can reach be over 200 feet tall and some species of Kelp can grow as fast as half a meter in a day. That said, some of the things there are actually Jellyfish polyps from Medusa's clones who reverted back to that stage of their development.
