I actually just finished working on it for another couple of hours (and only managed to cut out about a 5cm x 5cm area of tree), but that's the first time I've done anything since this photo was taken it's just sooo detailed. gah. I'm really considering just spraying this layer light grey or another colour maybe and leaving it as a 1 layer stencil, because I really don't have the time or motivation to finish it... haha.

No way! I definitely think you should keep working on it as a 3 layer stencil because it's going to look rad as hell when it's done. And I never, ever say rad but it seems appropriate for this occasion. Just maybe put it aside for a while and work on an easier stencil so you get your motivation back.

haha, okay. I will persist. I actually took your advice and did 2 "simple" stencils today... and I definitely do feel more motivated.
