Description
The drawing is not entirely finished, as the commissioner requested some small changes... But didn't specify what they wanted me to change yet. When the changes have been done the image will be updated. I still wanted to post it now, as I'm pretty proud if it.
Now, have a red fox with some fancy mountains in the background. This is the type of art I'm aiming for - fullbody animals with detailed backgrounds. They just take such an amount of time
Anyway. An incredible amount of reference photos.
For the fox:
The head is from wildlifereferencephotos, by Manon Bruin
The body and tree truck (modified to show the full body and the back feet) from pmp-art, by Steven Derek.
Some other photos from pixabay and pexels for fur texture.
For the background:
Some fancy wallpaper of the alps, for inspiration
Image of the Himalayas, from pixabay, used for the three mountain tops
Some other images for inspiration
The view outside my window (winter is coming... And the mountaintops are covered with snow again).
Colored pencils on A4. A whole lot of hours, due to a lot of changes.

You'll be able to influence the minds of many with a large show of vibrance, as you did. However, for those who know that artwork must strive for believability, they would know that vibrance, itself, isn't enough; it can only get one so far. If you really want to wow the audience, you would go beyond just relying on vibrance. You'd actually make your fox seem like an actual fox.
Personal tastes can hide the fact that a work was ever believable. Therefore, care must be taken not to show bias based around what one likes or what one dislikes. While you're not the one to take keen advantage of the gullibility of others to consider what fits under their personal tastes to be masterpieces, the fact that many artists do shows the fruitlessness of relying on likes and dislikes as a means for determining believability.
Personal tastes is really just a person comparing themselves to what they'd like or dislike, in either case; the more something describes the person, the more they'd like it. If you want others to like your work, therefore, you must make specific certain they'd like it for what's been described, rather than for anything else; even something as simple as a single dot on a white canvas can be loved for reasons other than the fact that it happens to be a single dot.
In the case of this picture, you want people to love it due it being a fox, rather than a show of techniques. When people stare at this picture, what should happen is that they literally see a fox, rather than just them seeing a painting of a fox.
What I've described is a concept within aesthetics called "verisimilitude", or "believability", "perception"... The only way to master verisimilitude is through having the right mindset.

Now this is just fantastic. I can barely see anything wrong with this one. The technique used for this is superb, using wavy, vertical strokes for the tree and the mountains in the background, and using a combination of vertical, horizontal, and diagonal strokes for the fox himself. It especially makes his fur look all the more authentic, the the same can be said for the mountains in the background. Attention to detail is spot on, with good use of shading used throughout the lower areas of the mountains, on a couple of the tree branches, and even just under the fox's throat. Overall, astounding. I love it!
