Description
Entered in Malintra-Shadowmoon 's Milestones Contest , for topic 6: "Nature".
And here it is - the finished piece. You've already seen WIPs, and now the piece is finally completed. It will be nice to work on something else now...
So, this piece was quite a bit of a challenge. At least, the rocks were. If you look at the main reference, you will see the fox is standing on a huge pile of concrete blocks. I did consider drawing that for a while, with some "nature adapts to humanities trash" theme, but decided to rather move the fox into their rightful element instead... Which meant turning the concrete into rocks.
Without any good references, and with little practice of drawing rocks. Things went as they had to go, and much frustration was felt. Eventually a peace treaty was signed, and the piece was finished.
At least, so I thought, until I realized I still really didn't like how parts of those rocks turned out, and they had to be fixed. The piece looks quite a bit better now, and I'm writing this up as a learning experience. I'm going to practice drawing rocks later on, though.

And DMSalesman was kind enough to take some photos which helped with the rocks. Without them, this would have been even more frustrating.
Colored pencil, A3 (42*30 cm), not sure how many hours... 40 or so, maybe.
