hi!  what a lovely photo!

Aww... Gion Odori 2009. Nice to see them all again.
You probably don`t know their names.
From left there are :
*maiko Miharu who became a geiko last year
*maiko Tsunemomo who became a geiko in 2009
*maiko Kanoka who is now the most senior maiko in Gion Higashi district
*maiko Umeha who quit the profession in 2009
*hidden maiko Kanoyumi who is still a maiko
*maiko Kotomi (in blue) who quit between 2010 and 2011
*maiko Masayui who quit right before the odori (she was a maiko only for couple of months)

And hidden behind Kanoka is maiko Tomitaka who also quit after this Odori

Now Gion Higashi has only 4 maiko : Kanoka, Kanoyumi, Ryouka and Masaho.

I would love to see this someday. Odds are looking grim I'll have a wife with me when I do, but oh well.
