Description    I painted this in February of 2017.   I had purchased some new colors and finally brightened my palette.  When I first started to post my watercolors I mentioned that I would post about 16, but that number did not include this and the next one that I will post later this week.  Turns out that I didn't realize that my scanner couldn't pick up the colors properly back then and the scan I had looked bad, and didn't represent what the picture looked like.  I went back and looked at the original and simply used the picture taken from my camera instead to reproduce the colors properly. Painted on my 6"x9" Strathmore practice pad.

Real sense of open, natural landscape. Has a feel of reality. Impressive.

Getting a camera or scanner to represent the original well isn't easy. Recently I've tried combining layers of a version that is brighter or more saturated, and one that is darker, with the original scan. I got the idea from HDR photography where they combine 3 different exposures to get a more detailed photograph. It isn't perfect but It's the closest I've gotten to the original so far. Of course I've been using metallic watercolor paints so I don't know how it would work on normal watercolor.

Thanks for the insight, I'll give it a try. Also, thank you for the fave. I looked at your watercolors, they are good and have the potential to be better as you experiment. My scanner would definitely mess up metallic watercolors, Seems like it can only do business documents!
