CT-8129, Or Sergeant Gulf as he's known, is a trained Forward Air Controller assigned to the 44th Tactical Air Control Party (TACP). He's pictured here awaiting the arrival of a platoon belonging to the 427th Battalion, shortly after securing and marking a landing zone for the craft to touch down. These REPSOM-affiliated teams were commonly embedded with larger infantry units in order to maintain communication with friendly aircraft in the area, and were primarily tasked with calling in air strikes, coordinating large-scale aerial landings, and managing air control resources. Gulf's armour was equipped with a helmet visor, rangefinder, comm pack, as well as a small GPS panel. His main weapon consisted of a DC-15B blaster rifle with a scope, HLE-201 grenade launcher, and target designator attached. Each air control party was made up of 9 troopers, led by a lieutenant and managed by a Sergeant Major acting as the squad 2iC. Despite primarily focusing on the facilitation of landing zones and air support, these soldiers were still formidable in battle and were capable of taking on Separatist units considerably larger than their own. By the age of the Empire, the majority of previously established TACPs were disbanded in favour of more traditional ATC units, operating from the comfort of their bases rather than holding down landing zones.
