Oh, I've always loved these pretty birds with their beautiful colours, shapes and unique crowns!
I even love its onomatopoeic names in English and Latin.
I'm sure I've said this many times before but it just pleases my eyes how you mix super-finely detailed realistic animals
with those geometrically shaped and brightly coloured backgrounds that resemble glass mosaics.
It looks just so mesmerizing and enchanting!
You've really captured these birds' essence.
The cinnamon colour of their plumage is really beautiful and I adore how you made their remarkable golden black and white tipped crests.
Don't their crests resemble a Native American headgear a bit?
I recall a hoopoe was chosen to be a national bird of Israel not many years ago.
I also know these birds appear in the Hebrew tales of the biblical king Solomon.
One story was about how the bird got its golden crest.
In the tale hoopoes really had their crests transformed golden but they became conceited and what is more hunted by the people who wanted to catch these flying treasures.
Ever since King Solomon took pity upon them and removed the gold from their plumages the hoopoes have been content with their lot.
But I don't know... don't they still look pretty glamorous?
This painting of yours is definitely going into my favourites gallery; thank you so much for it made me really happy to admire such a wonderful piece of art!

Your kind comments make me blush and put a smile on my face Sometimes I don't answer them straight away, so I can re-read them when I reply and I smile again.I'm really glad you like these hoopoes. ( I almost wrote hippoes ) I like hippoes too and want to paint/ draw one some time.)Gold feathers or not, they still look glamorous indeed. They look really pretty when they fly. I only saw hoopoes twice in my life, and never saw them clearly as they were in a thick forest, but a glimpse of their beautiful feathers, the mix of dove grey/beige, white and black was really memorable.Thank you for sharing the tale about King Solomon and the Hoopoe.
