Description
Shot this on film on my trip to England four years ago. I used a Pentax MZ-5N with a 100-300mm lens, ISO 400 film. The changing of the guard was on, and in order to obtain this shot I was yelled at by mounted guards, then squashed by hundreds of tourists against the fence surrounding the palace, pushing my lens between the railings.Sorry the scanned quality is not so good; I've not got a film scanner, so I scanned a 6 x 4 print instead. It looks a little flat, but oh the costumes, the pomp and the circumstance...

It's a great shot. the story you have accompanying the shot is pretty exciting as well. I also know what you mean about the scanner. My scanner scans my black and whites and colors like poop. so I have taken digital photos of my prints instead but I really hate doing that because the quality and depth are diminished somehow.

Heh. Great portrait. The starkness of the red uniforms of the house guard allways look good against the stone of the palace and you really pulled that off well. The band in the background, out of focus, finishes it off excelently. Nice photo. (also, the mounted guards allways carry working weapons and all the riflemen usually have full magazines on them, so very brave of you

Wow, I didn't realise the danger I was getting myself into by crossing the mounted guard! But it was definitely worth it! Then it starting drizzling (bloody English weather) at the same time as when I needed to change my film. ^_^
