I've been wanting to do Kay's cutie mark for a long time now, but I just couldn't think of anything. At first I was going to do something with her fringe (the part of her hair designed to look like a bird wing), because I refused to do something with the Yatagarasu, partially because it makes no sense as Kay is a pretty terrible thief. I had it done, then I thought "maybe I'll do something with her key?" and this design popped in my head pretty much exactly like this, though originally there was a small cut-out on the blue part here to show where her fringe curls around to form the joint of a bird wing, and it was going to be black and what is dark pink would be the dark blue instead. It didn't look as good as this. The only thing that I find disappointing is that it looks like a Quidditch goal hoop. Sigh.

Now I really like Kay- she's easily my favourite assistant character out of her, Trucy and Maya. I kinda get why people don't like her, but I don't get why so many people don't like her. I enjoy her and I think she plays off Edgeworth very nicely. Teasing the super-serious and uptight prosecutor is funnier than teasing the beleaguered defence attorney or the only slightly uptight and serious defence attorney to me, I guess. I also just fund her to be a bundle of fun.

And just to hammer in the "everyone thinks Kay is a Mary Sue" thing, hers is the first of the larger cutie mark designs (though the preview is only at 800 px, the actual size is 1024px), but that was because I drew the wing too big and didn't want to re-draw it nor re-size it much so I just enlarged the canvas and worked that way.
