I had a theory that someone that he had cared about a long time ago had killed himself/herself so he gets pissed when people just give up and put themselves down like dogs.

actualy, im pretty sure thats kinda true in a sense. Vlad Dracul(from something i read once) that a letter was sent to one of his wifes saying he had died in battle, so she lept from her tower while he was in view of the castle, thinking he was dead
