Description Paleo Profile: Triceratops horridus. Well known for its formidable set of horns, Triceratops is possibly one of the most recognizable dinosaurs from the Mesozoic. The two large brow horns and massive head frill have started much debate through the paleontological world over the last century as to what its purpose was. Each horn was approximately the length of a grown man, the bony frill was covered with a vast networks of veins leading scientists to believe it was covered in a sheath of keratin. Many have speculated the Triceratop's hooded arsenal to be for defense against the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex acting like a knight's shield and sword. Others say that its weak structure would've been a poor fighting tool against the mighty carnivore, but instead a vibrant decoration adorned with bright colors to attract females and word off would be rivals. One things for certain, the appearance of this animal has made its mark in the imagination of every dinosaur enthusiast. Enjoy!

Artist's Note: Speaking with a fellow paleontologist who had talked with Jack Horner, I have gotten the chance to integrate the idea that the top of Triceratops skull was covered in keratin. Much like the beak of a bird, the head of triceratops could have been brightly colored because of the keratin sheath. Could this have also added another layer of armor to the already bony skull of this ceratopsian or is it a bright defense against rivals? Leave your comments below.

Great reconstruction, I like all the details.
But the weight seems low. For a 30ft Triceratops horridus, the weight would exceed 10 tonnes.

Thank you Kingspacegpdzilla94. I appreciate the comments and appreciation. From what I could gather Glyptodontopelta is only known from a few dermal scutes. They were enough to be considered a new dinosaur. Unfortunately that's about all I could find about this Glyptodontopelta. It has been noted that it is almost synonymously described with Edmontia. As with most paleontology, many of the dinosaur discoveries have scientists referring to dinosaurs closely related to new finds to figure out what they might've looked like. For your story you can look to Edmontonia for information. Check out bluecea.deviantart.com/art/Edm… Unfortunately I do have to alter the picture a little. The legs of my reconstruction are a little long for this animal. I hope this has helped you out. Best of luck on your stories and I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Take care!
