The "big brother" to the Hailfire Missile Corvette, the Hellfire Frigate is the Vaygr's primary frigate and capital ship killer short of destroyers and battlecruisers. Our strategists have dubbed these frigates as being potentially more dangerous than our own ion cannon frigates. The reason for this is the versatility of their missile targeting systems. Once a missile has been fired, it is locked in on its target unless the target is destroyed, at which point, the targeting computer searches for another target and, once selected, transmits the target information through highly encrypted signals to the missiles and redirects the missiles to the new target. Even if the frigate is destroyed, the missiles remain locked onto their original target. This makes the Hellfire especially dangerous. Like our own torpedoes, their missiles are equipped with advanced targeting jammers to prevent other ships from targeting and shooting down the missiles mid-flight.

Like the rest of the Vaygr's frigates, the Hellfire is armed with a dorsal mounted concussion missile launcher, proving a light threat to approaching strike-craft and corvettes.

The Hellfire is classified as a heavy assault frigate, but most Vaygr commanders refer to it as a Heavy Missile Frigate so as not to confuse it with the Aggressor Class Light Assault Frigate.
