Description I always loved The Creature when I was a kid. I had a lunchbox with him on it, and my Mom sewed me a Halloween mask based off him one year--it was incredible! But I've never seen the moive.

I wanted to evoke the feel of the original film, adding only light green tinting.

Thanks for looking!

This is fantastic! I think you succeeded in evoking the feel of the original movie... You've been very successful in being able to reproduce the look of the Gil Man costume in this piece. It has the same curves, and doesn't look as harsh and monstrous in this piece of art as I've seen him look in others. And that sits well with me!
He looks like the proper, romantic tragic anti-hero male lead here.. only.. y'know... a fish
I love the flick of Kay's hair, and the position of her arms. I can't decide whether she's just thrown them up in horror or is trying to beat his chest to let her go. Either way, it works!

Really awesome drawing. Congrats!

Wow, thanks very much! When I was a kid The Creature from the Black Lagoon was my all-time favorite movie monster. My Mom, God Bless her, actually took the time to sew me a creature mask to wear. It looked really good. So when I did this piece, I wanted to stay true to that long-time fondness for him.

I really apprecite your noticing.

Thanks again!

this very good work of art. I remember seeing this Gillman in Scooby doo and the Ghoul SchoolΒ and he had a daughter too.

you're very welcome. There's also something about the rendering that makes me think of classic Japanese art, too. I'm not sure what it is (the stylisation, perhaps?), but I like it.

Your mum sounds awesome to have sewn you a creature mask. What a legend!
