When I think of silence--I think of a lot of empty or negative space, hence the sparse text and lots of space.I did not use any textures for this poster, which is different for me because I love textures in my work. It seems the texture thing is often over-done in posters and graphic materials for these type of movies. You do not need blood, splatters, blood splatters, or any kind of crazy textures, to make something scary.

Just wondering, are there any...erm...awkward scenes? My parents say the main reason I can't watch it is because even though it's rated R for horror, violence, and images, because it's rated R, the director/writer/whoever has room to throw in random...awkward scenes. Just curious. :/

You know, I can't remember if there are those inappropriate scenes. Everything about that movie is "awkward," it's campy as heck. It's Rated-R because of the violent nature of the movie, think Saw (same director) in how most of it is visually and conceptually disturbing to most viewers.

I believe I just desaturated the image, one of two ways: desaturate the image or have a desaturation filter layer over the image, then create another layer with the color, in this case red, and apply "soft light" and adjust the opacity accordingly.

how this came second to first place i cannot answer. this is truely a brilliant poster on all levels, the winning design was just down with cheap effects and the title on the knife? (no offense to them but thats like gradeschool thinking and makes it hard to read) and how this didn't get a DD over 3rd place.. i just cant figure that out too. you are extremely unlicky my friend

The first place was following the aesthetics of the SAW poster artwork (not truly original thinking but good application as this is the same director), third place was my personal favorite and truly deserved some sort of feature other than just being third place.

I agree, this should definitely have won. The spacing between the lines of text and the use of pure lowercase in the title just add to the atmosphere of the poster. Just brilliant.

it was ages ago...but I'm loving the really subtle addition of that doll in the clouds! This should have won...I didn't like the razor one: it didn't scare me that much...this one's awesome though.

I personally liked yours better than mustafahaydar's picture, it has a professional quality that I can't really describe. I love the open space and color choices as well. Congrats on 2nd!
