Description

This is NOT a photo!!! It's a DIGITAL, 3D piece. So many people confuse this for a photo.

I designed this pendant in a CAD/CAM class at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). CAD stands for “computer aided design” and CAM stands for “computer aided manufacturing.” The CAD program I used is Matrix and I rendered with V-Ray. There is a blue version of this pendant at [link] !!!

Matrix is a program made especially for jewelry designers. If you want to see beautiful jewelry designed and rendered with Matrix, please go to [link] .

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the best school of gemology in the world. It’s the global leader in gemological research, the world’s most respected gemological laboratory, and has done many contributions to the industry. GIA also has several schools located in different countries. Its website is at [link] .

I'm sorry, but unfortunately I can't help because I made this in 2009 at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and I no longer have access to their programs or machinery. However, I hope you'll find what you're looking for.

This is awesome! I'd like to ask "Permission Of Use" for the International Valentine's Day issue! All proper credentials would be given, of course. So I have 2 questions for you; 1) May I use this image, and 2) What country are you from? Also, take a look at my page here on DeviantART. I went international for Halloween, too... That issue came out awesome! Hope to hear! ~Drew Henry, Founder [link] . P.S.: If you grant me permission of use, could you possibly email me a version without the watermark? If-so, that can be sent to: TheBostonSpectrum@Gmail.com. Cheers!!

Hello! You can use my image, but I'm curious as to where it would be used. Is ~TheBostonSpectrum like an online magazine? I noticed that the deviations in your gallery look like pages in a magazine, but I just wanted to make sure. Unfortunately, I don't want to send the version without the watermarks. I hope that's okay. I'm from France, but I lived 21 years in the USA. Interestingly, my dad lives in Boston, Massachusetts, which is where you seem to live in!

Wow~ Here for 21 years, and your dad lives here?! That is odd. But cool! I wouldn't mind seeing France... Always wanted to visit Europe. So you don't like the idea of removing the watermark, eh? That's interesting. I only say that because your "art" is jewelry. It's not a 2D print that someone could steal, per-se. I mean sure, someone could take the image, but they can't "wear" the image... Know what I mean? At any rate, sometimes I will accept watermarks, and other times I wont. It all depends on how intrusive the watermark actually is on the image. In your case... I'm sorry but... I wouldn't use it, as the watermark is too intrusive. But don't get me wrong, I understand your concerns completely. And yes, The Boston Spectrum is an online art magazine... Online ONLY. There is no printed version. The Boston Spectrum is on both Facebook as well as deviantART, and that's it. Well~ I don't really know what else to say, except I'd hate to see you NOT participate. I really am impressed by your craftsmanship. It's all up to you, my friend. But I can promise you this; The Boston Spectrum would only use your image in the "submissions" part of the magazine. I would NOT use your image for anything else. If you decide you would like to participate and remove the watermarks... Or perhaps place them in places that aren't so intrusive... Once again, you can email me at: TheBostonSpectrum@Gmail.com. Cheers, and be well! ~Drew

the metal is a bit to perfect to look real in reallity it has various variations of specularity,though... the render went pretty well I can tell that's what you wanted

Ahh! This picture is amazing! It stinks that one side of my head can tell it's real, while the artist side is saying it's not because of little things I can't describe. >.<

Thank you for your kind comment. I don't know how to make movies. When it comes to 3D art, I only know how to design and render. I also know how to do other kinds of art, but they are not related to 3D art.

Thank you for your comment, but I already mentioned in my artist’s comments the program I used. I designed this piece with the CAD program called Matrix. CAD stands for “computer aided design.” I also used the program V-Ray to render.

BrotherlyFluff In reply to DanielleTheGreat [2009-12-18 13:20:13 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I cannot remember exactly how long it took me to design this complex jewelry piece. However, I know I designed it in my CAD/CAM class. CAD stands for “computer aided design” and CAM stands for “computer aided manufacturing.” Students were very busy every school day, so we did not have much time to work on personal projects. For this reason, it took me weeks to finish designing this piece.

It’s okay. I’m not upset at you because I can understand that you won’t know what my gender is since I hid it. The reason I hid it was because there are people at this site who judge others a lot. Sometimes people treat others differently just because they are males or females. I believe we are to love each other and treat each other equally, whether we are males or females. I didn’t want to be judged just because I’m a female, so I hid my gender from those people. Then they would not have stereotypical ideas about me simply based on my gender.
