Description
Icestorm is a former theoretical nuclear physicist from Seattle, Washington. His major career project was developing a form of "cold fusion" whereby nuclear fusion, normally only achievable at enormous extremes of heat and pressure, could be done at conditions far below such norms. Only...it didn't work out quite like he had wanted it. As he started getting close to a breakthrough, word got out, and an industrial saboteur was hired to sabotage the project and make it look "bad." He chose to strike during a test of the cold fusion device, in the process destroying any and everyone there who stood a chance of reviving it, and generally leaving a nasty mess that put off many organizations from considering further research.

Only...it didn't kill the man it was meant to kill. Icestorm was born, the energies of the fusion device interacting with his own innate but dormant extraordinary abilities, granting him the power of energy subtraction and manipulation, with which he could affect the molecular structure and kinetic energy of matter. As Icestorm he has been in a continual process of hunting down those responsible for destroying his life's work, while also trying to start all over again. He accepted Captain Meteor's offer to join Vanguard, at least in part so that they could help him bring his own enemies to justice, and give him the resources and protection needed to resume his work. However, his personality clashes with the fiery and passionate Kilauea may bode trouble for his personal agenda...
