Every interpretation is a welcome one, IMO. Granted, I'm old and my opinion may not count anymore, LOL. It's not often you can capture realism in animated characters and Gorillaz is prob one of the more difficult ones to try. But hot damn, you made them so freakin' real I feel like I can reach out and touch them!

Hewlett's style is pretty specific and as much as I hate to say it, a lot of his characters look alike. It's the hair, a piercing or even a tattoo that helps differentiate most of them. Gorillaz is probably his most diverse set of characters as far as his art style is concerned. But it doesn't change the fact that even with all the little things Hewlett's added to make them their own individuals, they're a difficult group to envision - let alone draw - as flesh and blood people.
It just blows my mind how beautiful your representation is. You've captured them all perfectly in ways I could never imagine.

Well are they though? :0 The Whitney Action design looks a lot like Noodle in the last couple of phases, and 2D and now Russel too have similair headshape as her..
But there are some other characters as well, like Booga in Tank Girl, the Monkey universe, and some Gorillaz lore characters.
But I guess you're speaking of his human characters, then yeah I agree that Gorillaz are the most diverse in terms of age, size, body, face, race, etc. And personality.
Which is good cus theyll be so fricking boring if they wouldnt. And there wouldnt be story dynamics etc. Even their voices are completely different, a very good thing for interviews.
BUT at the end of the day you can argue its still the style though. I think in general, same-face often happens to human characters in anyone's style cus we see
realistic and detailed humans every day, and even then we all look similair. And when you stylize a detailed being to round head, nose, mouth, eyes, cool haircut... not much is left. Those little blemishes, birthmarks, scars, eyebrows, hairline, jawline, etc are gone. That's why I think people who draw more realistic character's unknowingly get a pass.
If you change Noodle's eyes and hair to 2D's... it'll be 2D lol. But if I were to try it with a real version... it'll be like an entire plastic surgery!
