Description First in a series I've been working on in my studio class. It was also my first attempt at using rabbit skin glue. It smells as lovely as you'd expect. Oddly enough, it sort of... grows on you.

This isn't quite done. There's still a few things I need to add/remove/change, especially after some ideas people had during the critique. Someone said that it reminded them of Samurai Jack, though, and that made me incredibly happy

I'm working on a larger one of these now (4 x 4 feet.) It's fun stuff.

I love the different degrees of detail within the pack of wolves. The earthy tones are neat too.

i love it when u do unexpected stuff like this. it reeks of a sort of semi-medieval, semi-pagan, woodsy primitive Awesomeness. idk if that makes sense

Rabbit Skin Glue. now whyyyy do i love the sound of that... Icky stuff made of the hide of tender furry creatures (that are not puppies, coz i love puppies). hell yeahs.

This is brilliant! The colors all blend and compliment each other beautifully! I love how it looks medieval and modern at the same time. Really awesome piece!!!

Is rabbit skin glue a medium like linseed oil? Or is actually glue that you are using to paste things on to the canvas with?

Really like this; the way you drew and placed the animals reminds me of the work of Franz Marc. The coloring is very beautiful; I like how you used 'quiet' tones for a very 'active' scene, if that makes any sense.

Mm, it depends. The first time I painted on wood with oils, the board was unprimed, and it took a week for it to dry... albeit, it was pretty thick paint. This one was primed with rabbit skin glue, and it dried surprisingly quickly. The one I'm working on now is unprimed, but I put an acrylic wash on it first, and it absorbs oil paint like a mad fiend! Seriously, I had paint with a ton of linseed oil in it that dried over night. So, I guess that it really depends.

Thanks! That's good to hear. I've been trying to keep my paintings vibrant, and this was an early attempt. It's tricky, with oils. I guess it's about starting really bright and trying not to fudge it up too much
